I read this short story collection this week and loved it. The stories are delightful escapades of the imagination but Wilson uses this abstract form to create tender characters and to make lucid observations about loneliness, relationships, defense-mechanisms, desire and the complexities of love.
Here is one of my favourite quotes:
Flipping through the pages of Curator Monthly, I found a classified that asked for someone in the field of museum arts who was willing to veer off the beaten path. Up to this point, all I knew were beaten paths, tattoed with footprints, and I had come to the understanding that they were not much fun to travel because so many people were waiting for you at the end, wondering what took you so long.
