Introducing: The 100 Days of Summer Project

To buoy my summer along, I have decided to do a “thing-a-day” art project. Day 1 is Thursday 31st May.

Eric Gill

My theme is The Wild of Words. It’s a loose and spacious topic that will involve snaps of pleasing typography, words I like, favourite excerpts and poems, neologisms and I hope, papercuts, hand-drawn typography and some of my own tiny pieces of new writing. I want to play with words again; to pick them up and feel them and move them around.

Some of my friends are going to join in too and we are going to have a get together at the end to share our favourite pieces. Or, if it is just me, I will force them to come over and listen to my poems and newly-learned words. For hours on end.

I love this piece Han. Profound and brilliant. Also I admire the way you can look after your little ones so well and with such commitment and at the same time keep faith with your own personal direction and work. And all in 100 degrees. Amazing.

I am doing my little family comics, a bit behind but keeping track of what we did that day to draw in a spare moment. Fun project! I’m really happy with how my finished ones are turning out.
