Recent Recommendations: Film

On Saturdays I have tracksuit trouser night. This involves exchanging every iota of basic pride in appearance for the unabated joy of elasticated waistbands, velour, huge t-shirts, lying star-shaped on my couch and eating Snickers. It’s an attractive picture isn’t it? It’s probably best that the mister is out working on tracksuit trouser night or I might shatter my feminine mystique irreparably.

Here are two of my favourite recent tracksuit trouser night finds:

Hugo — has wonder in it. Sacha Baron Cohen makes it. Oh his delivery — it’s just genius.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close — being Jonathan Safran Foer inspired, it involves an epic search and an attempt to piece together a sense of understanding through the collection of many tiny artefacts. Plenty of fascination, plenty of heart, great acting, I loved it.
